After a commercial mission to Asia in October, Brazilian Footwear - Export Promotion Programme developed by Abicalçados in conjunction with Apex-Brazil - is taking another step forward in this market. One of the results of the mission has been the decision for Brazilian companies to exhibit at the next edition of FASHION ACCESS from March 31st - April 2nd in Hong Kong. Fashion Access, which is held twice a year, is the main fashion event in Asia. It brings together a wide selection of leather goods, footwear, bags, travelware , belts and all kinds of fashion accessories. The aim is to export brands with high added value and direct them at market segments with high disposable income.
Entering the Asian market is an excellent opportunity for footwear companies which manufacture high end products which can be easily exported. "The fair offers opportunities for
Brazilian companies exporting their own brands with high added value and design features. This is the main objective for the major part of current footwear exports," stated Heitor Klein, Executive Director of Abicalçados. He added that due to the revaluation of the Brazilian real against the US dollar which prevents competitive pricing, exports of luxury shoes are very attractive to the Brazilians.
According to Letícia Luft, representative in Brazil of APLF the organisers of Fashion Access this is the most important fair of its kind in Asia. "Hong Kong is the entry point to the Asian market", she said, emphasizing that at the October edition of Fashion Access the Brazilian companies which exhibited their products had a high degree of acceptance. "Brazilian products stand out mainly due to their design", she added. "The middle class in Mainland China is still growing and this will increase the demand for brands and original designs."
Fábio Spohr of Calçados Q-Sonho who participated in Fashion Access last October has already received three orders from Hong Kong, Japan and Malaysia. "We are also negotiating with other countries," he stated. "Fashion Access really is the best port of entry to the Asian market,"he added.
FASHION ACCESS brings together more than a thousand exhibitors from 40 countries to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Sixteen thousand visitors from 90 countries attend the fair.
